The Purge continues this week, although honestly it’s a pretty small week anyway – even so, there’s one big cut on here for me.
SUPERMAN: WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #9 – This is still a good read and a solid exploration of exactly what makes Superman – well, Super.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 610 – Still not convinced Marc Guggenheim gets Ben Reilly, but it is good to see Kaine again.
ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS PROLOGUE ONE-SHOT # 1 – Oh, I know I shouldn’t, but Hercules is a book that I support and will survive the Purge, so I’m picking this up. # 32 – This is a big deal for me; the first X-Men book to bite it on the list (outside of New Mutants last week). Even so, Ellis’ writing is perfectly suited to trades and this doesn’t stick to a schedule, so it’s a natural.
ASTONISHING X-MEN
CAPTAIN AMERICA: REBORN # 4 – This could have been a much better shorter series. Definitely doesn’t mean the extra issue. # 899 – This is tough. I’ve been getting into Deadpool, and this seems like a fun book, especially starting with a Hercules team-up. Even so, this will get traded pretty quick. Okay, I may get this just because it’s Herc. We’ll see.
DEADPOOL TEAM-UP
NOVA # 31 – Seems like only last week the last issue came out! # 1 – Oh, who am I kidding? The only reason I was even considering this is that I like the character. Which is a pretty good reason, now that I think of it. Even so – no.
PSYLOCKE
X-MEN VS. AGENTS OF ATLAS # 2 – First issue was pretty good, and as I appear incapable of shaking the AoA kick, sure.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #30 – This has gotten both tedious and ridiculous. I’m not sure what it is, but the writers seem to think that just because they don’t have a TV show budget anymore they can throw anything up on the page. It doesn’t work that way. Even so, I’m with this book till the end of Season Eight. Season Nine, though, that’s a trade collection if ever there was one.
