I completely agree with your points, as per usual. As a lifelong diehard X-fan, with every issue I pick up I have always wanted a large assemblage of the X-Men to appear. One of those lovely moneyshots where they all pose or attack as a team.

Fraction got more X-Men in a square foot radius than ever before, and somehow it's more boring than ever (even more than that 90s team with Marrow and Maggot and Cecilia Reyes.) He's destroyed Cyclops, so recently returned as a rich, believable character (thanks Joss), making him half-"cool-Cali-dude-brah" and half hardass-general, all the while spitting on Xavier's dream of integration.

Utopia itself is anathema to their entire purpose. I thought they were supposed to be heroes, not mere fumbling survivors.

I want them back in Westchester, or at least NYC. I want Storm leading them. I want Kitty back. I want splinter teams. I want humor that isn't so forced and cheesy.

That being said I'm still picking it up...that Wednesday lunch break at the comic store gets me through my work week, and I can't turn away from an X title (unless it's followed by 'Babies' or a 7th Origin story.)

But I have to say i've found Legacy to be entertaining. All the Xavier flashbacks were beautiful and brought us old and unused characters. And Rogue's character arcs have been the highlight of the past year or 2 for the X-Men (though that whole Emplate arc sucked.) As much as I love the team aspect, a good focused personal character journey is my meat and potatoes.

Anyway, thanks for blogging about your decision to drop it. Always appreciate an x-amination (wow, maybe I'm just as cheesy as the x-editors.)

I'm a die hard X-Men fan and strangely enough I can't do more than agree with you wholeheartedly here. I still pick up Uncanny and will continue to do so, but in comparison, the new stuff IS lacking.

I enjoy Fraction's work for the most part (Invincible Iron Man is my current favorite) but his X-Men really has been lacking since Brubaker took off from the series. I feel like maybe it's all building toward something huge... or maybe it's just dragging along. We'll see.
