Over at OS, Val linked through to the Daily Telegraph’s article about the new Doctor Who being too sexy.
If you haven’t seen the new Doctor Who yet you may want to look away. Also, there are images potentially NSFW so I’m putting this behind a jump.
So: not only did the Doctor open the doors to the TARDIS – seconds after asking what it had for him this time – with a smile and a ‘Oh you sexy thing’…
Not only did new companion Amelia Pond not look away while the Doctor changed clothes with his back to her (not that the viewer saw anything)…
But Amelia also wore a police woman’s outfit with a very short skirt -
- which was revealed to be – gasp – not a real police woman’s outfit at all, but in fact Amelia’s kissogram outfit.
That’s right.
A kissogram.
Not a stripper, or a strippogram (as they would be called in the UK, for those not in the know), but a kissogram. So, basically, a strippogram that doesn’t take her clothes off.
I know for a fact that kissograms used to exist, but I’m not sure they still do – but in the quaint English village that the new Doctor Who has returned to (more on that in another post, I think), it seems quite right that they do.
What say a conservative (small ‘c’, not big ‘C’) minority of ‘outraged’ viewers say?
Why did she dress up as a tarty policewoman? Surely that’s not fitting for a family show.
They’ve completely demeaned Doctor Who by replacing good episode stories with slutty girls.
Oh, outraged Britain, I’ve missed you so.
I mean, it’s not as though Amelia spent the episode like this-
-or this-
It does make me laugh, however, that some viewers and reviewers seem to be complaining that Doctor Who’s companions shouldn’t be sexy. It’s almost as if the past thirty or forty years haven’t happened in some corners of the UK – and it’s almost as if they seem to have forgotten that the Doctor has had female companions before who may qualify as sexy…
Such as Tom Baker’s companion Leela the warrior woman who, according to Wikipedia was kept around for a simple reason…
An oft-repeated story (also stated in the DVD commentary to The Robots of Death) is that Leela’s skimpy leather outfits were very popular with the “Dads”, which kept them watching the programme.
Peter Davison’s final companion Peri was frequently out-acted by her own cleavage.
And then there’s Jon Pertwee’s companion Jo…
What would the Doctor say?

It is insanity, I tells ya!
where did you find the image of karen in black lingerie because i saw a film clip of matt smith in past style clothes and karen lying on a bed in those clothes and its been driving me nuts because i cant find the clip on its own because before it was in a you tube clip and i wanted to know exactly where the clip came from and what it was because its deffo not in the dr who series is it if you could tell me that would be awesome thanks
please reply soon because its driving me insane and i hate it
It’s a screencap from something that showed on BBC Four, apparently – which I think rules out most of her credits except maybe The Well, what looks to be an online series for the BBC.
If anyone else knows, please let us know!
