Of interest to Americans would be the series of responses to McCrae's poem. They start appearing in 1916, written by men who encouraged the US to enter the conflict. In 1917, US now in the war, the Canadian's poem is set to music, one sheet music even displaying the Philip Lyford painting of doughboys,"Flanders Fields" that will be taken over by Bauer & Black for Liberty Bond, posters, magazine advertising such as the one in the Ladies' Home Journal Nov. 1918, full colour in an otherwise black and white publication, complete with errors re McCrae, mis-titling, and a plea to continue to make sacrifices as these US soldiers were doing in Belgium - little knowing the Armistice would be achieved so soon. Names Galbreath, Negley, Lillard - the latter's last verse used by Y volunteer Michael in her little effort

The author of 'In Flanders Fields' was then-Major John McCrae, a medical officer in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Written on May 3on the battlerield in contemplation of the new grave of a young friend Lt. Alexis Helmer, it was first published in London England, authorless, in PUNCH, December 8 1915 issue. From there it "went viral" in communication terms of the era. Mme. Anna Guerin of France created cloth replicas and lobbied Britain and the Dominions to use them at first for her French Orphans charity, then sharing profits with evolving Returned Soldier/vet groups, and then these Empire countries creating their own variations to use, on lapels, in wreaths, on graves marking Armistice/now Remembrance Day across the Commonwealth.

Yup. Killed that rat ... DEAD!

I remember reading those comics when I was a kid. It was actually my very first exposure to Godzilla EVER. So I have Marvel to thank for my fascination with the King of the Monsters today. And Godzilla's fight with the Mega-Monsters was EPIC!
